Zendaya Shines as Louis Vuitton’s Newest Ambassador
Zendaya has just been announced as Louis Vuitton’s newest ambassador. The Dune actress just starred in her first campaign for the historic fashion house, advertising the brand’s iconic Capucines handbag in a sleek, summery set of photos.
The Capucines bag was first launched ten years ago. It is named after the Parisian street where the first Louis Vuitton shop opened over 150 years ago. The bag is now iconic, elegantly crafted with Taurillon leather.
The campaign itself was shot at Roquebrune-Cap-Martin in the south of France at a house designed by Modernist architect Eileen Gray. Law Roach, the retired stylist who is still working with Zendaya on many of her projects, did the styling for the shoot.
Zendaya’s straightened hair and black and white looks, embellished with gold and silver details and jewelry created a sort of subtle opulence. It is in keeping both with the Louis Vuitton brand and with the current ‘stealth wealth’ trend. She is wealthy, powerful, maybe a businesswoman, maybe a Long Island wife, but definitely on a dreamy, oceanic vacation.
The actress herself grew up with Louis Vuitton as a huge influence; she told Vogue that she grew up around images of Naomi Campbell posing for the brand, and that she had LV prints on her MySpace page. Zendaya definitely channels the iconic model in this most recent campaign, exuding the same luxurious, effortless beauty wrapped up in a sculpted 2000s package.
